OSRS buyer guide

What to check before buying an OSRS account

Two accounts can have the same total level and a very different amount of useful progression. This checklist helps you compare what is actually offered, ask precise questions and review delivery. It cannot remove the risks of account trading or replace the terms of your purchase.

1. Compare the progression you will use

Start with your intended activity. A pure needs the right combat levels and quest choices for its build. A main may need particular quest unlocks or access to the content you want. For an Ironman, equipment and supplies can matter as much as the total level.

For example, an account advertised with 99 Firemaking may still have low combat stats or little quest progress. A seller's Maxed label may describe a combat build rather than maximum total level. Ask for the actual values instead of treating a headline as a complete specification.

  • Read the exact game mode and build as separate answers.
  • Compare the relevant skill levels, total level and quest points.
  • Name the quests, cape rewards, gear and supplies that matter to you.
  • Ask the seller to resolve missing or conflicting details before checkout.

2. Agree what account access is included

Jagex account and legacy email describe different login arrangements. Email can be changed and original email included answer different questions too. Neither answer alone establishes what you will control after delivery. Ask which login details and email access are included, and whether any other characters or services are attached to the login.

Keep the seller's answers and the agreed scope in AuctionHouse. Do not put passwords, backup codes or complete payment details in a public listing or an evidence attachment. Use the order's delivery process for account-access information.

  • Confirm the stated login method and the precise handover steps.
  • Clarify email access, authenticator, bank PIN and any recovery information.
  • Check the seller's stated account history and any disclosed restrictions.
  • Read Buyer Protection and the listing terms before paying.

3. Review delivery before confirming

The default AuctionHouse review period is 72 hours. It starts when the seller marks a manual order delivered, or when payment is accepted for instant delivery. Your order shows its assigned deadline; use that deadline rather than counting from when you happened to open the chat.

Compare the delivered account with the agreed stats, mode, capes, items and access. Complete the agreed security handover and check that the access works. If something differs or remains unresolved, report the problem through the available order actions before the deadline. Inactivity can complete the order automatically.

When explaining an issue, describe the promised detail and the observed difference. Relevant screenshots can help; redact unrelated personal data and leave credentials out of evidence. Attachments are optional, and the platform decides an outcome under the applicable rules and evidence.

4. Understand the limits of any purchase

Jagex does not authorise buying, selling or transferring accounts. Account trading carries enforcement and recovery risks. Changing an email, receiving an original email or buying through a marketplace does not establish publisher approval or guarantee permanent access.

AuctionHouse Buyer Protection is a separate platform programme with eligibility, exclusions and remedy rules. Read the current terms and use Support if you need help understanding an order. This guide does not add a guarantee or extend a review deadline.
